Alicia graduated from the University of Iowa in 2006 with degrees in Elementary Education and Vocal Performance with a minor in Theater. Recently, she earned her Masters in Education and Teaching Certificate in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education (HALE) from Michigan State University. She has utilized these degrees in mentoring other teaching colleagues both in Brock Family Music as well as the Iowa City Community School District.
Feeling compelled in 2015 by their love of music and previous experience teaching lessons, Chuck and Alicia decided to open up a studio to teach others in their community. It has always been a goal of Alicia’s to share music with those around her, and what better way than through teaching others!
In 2017 and 2019, Alicia and Chuck recorded their first two Nashville albums incorporating new compositions of old hymns and poems that can be found on various streaming networks. With this work, Chuck and Alicia took a group of 55 musicians to Italy and Rome in 2019, performing at masses, at churches, and other venues the music they composed together, as well as other artists’ work.
Currently, you can find Alicia teaching 6th grade in the Iowa City Community School District during the school year (spreading her love for music and math), or as a piano mover on weekends, on the sales floor, or helping where she can to keep Brock Family Music an integral part of building our surrounding musical communities.
