Alicia graduated from the University of Iowa in 2006 with bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education and Vocal Performance, along with a minor in Theatre. She later earned her Master of Arts in Education and Teaching Certificate in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education (HALE) from Michigan State University. Throughout her career, Alicia has combined her passion for education and music by mentoring fellow educators in both Brock Family Music and the Iowa City Community School District.
In 2015, Alicia and her husband, Chuck, turned their shared love of music and years of teaching experience into a dream by founding Brock Family Music. Their vision was to create a welcoming environment where students of all ages could discover the joy of making music while receiving exceptional instruction. Helping others develop confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music has always been at the heart of Alicia’s mission.
In 2017 and 2019, Alicia and Chuck recorded two Nashville albums featuring original arrangements of timeless hymns and poems, now available on major streaming platforms. Their passion for creating and sharing music also led them to organize and direct a tour of 55 musicians to Italy in 2019, where the ensemble performed throughout Rome and other Italian cities in churches, Masses, and concert venues.
Today, Alicia continues to teach sixth grade in the Iowa City Community School District, where she enjoys inspiring students through both mathematics and music. As Studio Manager at Brock Family Music, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the studio, coordinates student enrollment and teacher placements, supports families throughout their musical journey, manages studio communications and scheduling, and works closely with the instructional team to ensure every student has an exceptional experience. Her dedication to education, organization, and building meaningful relationships helps Brock Family Music continue its mission of enriching lives through music. When she’s not in the classroom or at the studio, Alicia enjoys traveling with Chuck and their three boys, creating lasting memories together while continuing to share their love of music, learning, and adventure.
