Pianist Scott P. Schwab began his musical studies at an early age, and maintains an active career as a performer and teacher. He holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance from the University of Colorado-Boulder, as well as the Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of Denver and Indiana University, respectively. His primary teachers have included Evelyne Brancart, Jean-Louis Haguenauer, Alice Rybak, and Andrew Cooperstock. Additionally, he holds the Certificate in Injury-Preventive Keyboard Technique from Salem College, having studied the Lister-Sink Method with Barbara Lister-Sink and Jamie Grigsby.
Dr. Schwab has had the opportunity to perform solo and chamber works in venues around the country and in Europe, in venues from New York City to Vianden Castle in Luxembourg. His playing has earned several accolades, including First Prize in the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale Competition, the Sarah C. Manion Award for Excellence in Piano, and the Lamont Recital of Distinction.
As a pedagogue, Dr. Schwab has worked with students at all levels and ages, ranging from young beginners to collegiate piano performance majors to adult hobbyists. He previously held faculty positions at the University of South Alabama, Casper College, and several community music schools. He strives to help all students approach the instrument in a healthy and thoughtful way, so that each individual can achieve the highest level of fulfillment possible. Outside of piano, Dr. Schwab enjoys studying software engineering, cooking, and reading.
