Chuck’s passion for music began at an early age, playing piano for church services, weddings, and community events. He had the privilege of studying piano performance with Assistant Professor of Music Nancy Lease at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. Since beginning his teaching career in 2004 in Maquoketa, Chuck has expanded his studio to Iowa City in 2008 and the Solon area in 2015, inspiring students of all ages to develop a lifelong love of music.
In 2017 and 2019, Chuck and his wife, Alicia, recorded two Nashville albums featuring original arrangements of beloved hymns and poetry, now available on various streaming platforms. As Directors of Music at St. Mary, they also led a group of 55 musicians on a performance tour of Italy and Rome in 2019, sharing the music they composed together alongside works by other composers in churches, Masses, and concert venues.
Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, Chuck developed a strong appreciation for business from an early age. From his father Cary’s flower shops to his grandfather Glen’s lumber yards, he witnessed firsthand the importance of hard work, integrity, and exceptional customer service. Inspired by these family businesses, Chuck earned degrees in Business and Finance from Upper Iowa University, graduating summa cum laude in 2015.
Today, Chuck combines his passion for music with his entrepreneurial mindset to help families find the right musical opportunities and instruments for their unique goals. Whether teaching, performing, or guiding customers through the piano selection process, he is committed to listening first, understanding each family’s needs, and providing an experience centered on quality, trust, and long-term success. His continual focus is on making music accessible and enjoyable while ensuring every customer feels confident they have found the best fit for their home and musical journey.
When he’s not teaching, performing, or helping families discover quality instruments, Chuck enjoys traveling with his wife, Alicia, and their three boys, making memories together through new adventures. Whether at home or on the road, he believes music has a unique way of bringing people together and enriching lives for generations.
