Kendra Leisinger taught music in public schools for 38 years before recently retiring from the Ankeny Community School District. She began piano lessons in third grade and quickly discovered a lifelong love of playing the piano. Since then, she has served as both a soloist and accompanist for a variety of groups and performers—a role she continues to enjoy today.
Throughout her school years, Kendra was actively involved in band, orchestra, and choir. She is a graduate of Waverly-Shell Rock High School and Wartburg College and earned her master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa. During her career, she served as President of the Iowa Music Educators Association and spent four summers in Washington, D.C., advocating for music education.
Kendra has two sons and is excited to become a grandmother for the first time this December! She also has four cats that she rescued as kittens from her garage, and they certainly keep her busy. In her free time, she enjoys attending concerts, reading novels, watching home renovation shows, and taking road trips with her family.
Kendra is thrilled to be part of the Brock Family Music team and loves working with students who are excited to grow their musical abilities and discover the joy of playing the piano.
