Meet Rachel

Versatile singer, actor, recording artist, and teacher proficient in German, Italian, and French, Joselson has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, Madison Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Staatstheater Essen, and Theater Basel. Her musical-theater credits include Frau Blücher (Young Frankenstein), Desirée (A Little Night Music), Golde (Fiddler on the Roof), Mama Morton (Chicago), Signora Naccarelli (The Light in the Piazza), Sarah Brown(Guys and Dolls), Cinderella’s mom/Giant(Into the Woods), and Glinda/Auntie Em (The Wizard of Oz).
Emeritus voice professor at the University of Iowa, Joselson draws on her experience as a performer and recording artist to provide practical, empathetic instruction. Her teaching emphasizes sustainable technique, self-advocacy, artistic independence, and long-term professional development, incorporating principles from Coffin, Ware, Reid, and Miller along with Italian vocal traditions. She also serves as a mentor and language coach, helping singers develop stylistic and linguistic fluency in opera and art song. Her international training and transition from mezzo-soprano to soprano inform an approach centered on curiosity, storytelling, clarity, and authentic communication.
She holds a DMA from Rutgers University, an MM from Indiana University, and a BM from Florida State University.
